Couponing 101: Sales Cycles & Stocking Up

Cyclical Pricing - Buy LOW!

My previous habit – like the majority of shoppers – was to make a grocery list of the items my family needed (and wanted) and then hit the store!  I did price compare, but didn’t realize I was missing out on great deals by not watching the grocery sales.

Grocery store prices have a sales cycle of about 6 weeks.  During that 6 week period, the price of a product may rise and fall several times.  When a product hits it’s rock bottom price, purchase enough to last the next 6 weeks that way you won’t have to return to the store and pay full retail when you run out.  Apply coupons for those items when they are on sale and BAM! You are saving upwards of 50%!

For example, you could buy 1 box of cereal for $4 every week for 6 weeks and spend $24 on cereal.

You could buy 6 boxes of cereal on sale with coupons for $1 and pay only $6 for 6 weeks of cereal.

That’s a savings of $18 on just one item that your family uses week after week!

Since I started being more proactive in my grocery shopping and using coupons, I have reduced my family's monthly grocery bill by roughly 48% to 54%!
